It’s time to clean up all of those stains left in your microwave! Fill a large, microwaveable safe, bowl with 1 cup of water. Chop up either a lemon, lime, or other citrus and stick it inside. Turn the appliance on high for 2 minutes, or until the window is steamy. Let it cool for at least 5 minutes, remove bowl, and wipe away all the grime.
We tend to neglect how the inside of our fridge is looking. On a regular basis it is recommended to take out all of the food, wipe down shelving, and clean the removable bins and shelving. Pop out the door shelves and bin and wash in soapy warm water. Let’s get rid of the food bacteria and spillage!
Cleaning your oven is ESSENTIAL when spring cleaning! It’s time for the holiday cooking residue to make its exit. Simply use your appliance’s self cleaning function to remove stubborn grime. If you oven does not have a self cleaning future, place a hot, wet cloth overtop the burned spots. This will help soften up the gunk. Proceed by sprinkling baking soda and scrubbing with a heavy duty pad. Rinse and wipe!
Start by emptying out your drawer full of junk. Vacuum, or wipe out, all dust and crumbs. Toss, or relocate, any items you no longer use…or haven’t used in awhile. You can try repurposing decorative plates and small bowls to store odds and ends. A nonslip cabinet liner will help hold everything in place.
Believe it, or not, cosmetics actually do expire! Many products, without expiration dates, will note how many months the product is good for “after opening”. To stay on top of the expiration, label the date you opened the product with a permanent marker.
Grout seems to pick up everything! To make grout sparkle like the day you moved in, spray your grout with a reliable grout cleaner. Let it set for several minutes (read bottle for specific directions). Then scrub with a stiff brush. Your grout will look good as new!
Hard water buildup can cause distasteful stains and water marks that can affect your shower head’s water flow. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a plastic bag and tie around the shower head. Make sure to completely immerse the shower head inside of the mixture. Let sit for at least an hour and wipe away. Allow hot water to run through shower head for a few minutes before using yourself.
Spring cleaning is all about hitting those areas that tend to get overlooked. Ever thought about how dusty your ceiling fan is? Look up at it, you’ll be surprised. Grab an extendable duster and attack those hard to reach areas! When cleaning, make sure to start from top to bottom. Having to wipe down surfaces and vacuum twice is a pain.
Let’s face it! Eventually you are going to have to tackle the inside of every appliance in your home. Before an odor forms, clean your washing machine by adding bleach and turning on the special washer cleaning cycle. Alternatively, there are great washing machine products designed specifically for your washer.
